9 countries, 7 languages, 9 weeks: How AUTO1 Group scales AI agents across Europe's used-car market

AUTO1 Group is Europe's leading platform for buying, retailing and financing used cars. Through wirkaufendeinauto.de and its sister brands, the group provides customers with a fast, straightforward way to sell cars.

Challenge

Every year, millions of customers use wirkaufendeinauto.de, a brand of AUTO1 Group, to value their vehicles. But the sale isn't final until the car is handed over at a branch, meaning that in the interim, questions pile up around appointments, documents, prices, and next steps.

As customers seek any time support in their preferred language and without hold times, the wirkaufendeinauto.de human team and interactive voice response (IVR) system couldn’t keep pace. With the brand continuing to grow, Auto1 looked for an automated solution that could scale with their business and deliver premier service across multiple markets and languages.

Solution

AUTO1 Group deployed Parloa's AI agents across wirkaufendeinauto.de's customer service operations. The AI agents schedule appointments for car purchases end to end, process new bookings and make changes automatically, as needed. Operating in nine countries and in seven languages, the agents answer every incoming call, can identify customers by phone number, and check whether a vehicle appraisal or appointment already exists.

The AI agents understand natural language and recognize intent in conversations, allowing them to orchestrate the best next steps, whether that’s resolving the request automatically or routing to a human.

The result is consistently high Google, Trustpilot, and NPS scores, while reducing the workload of the human team.

“For us, the value of AI lies not only in greater efficiency, but also in better communication. Thanks to Parloa’s AI agents, we’re available to customers at all times. This lets us improve the customer experience and build trust.”

Alexander App, Director of Customer Service Europe, AUTO1 Group

Why Parloa

AUTO1 Group needed a solution built for scale that offered strong security, reliable performance, and a fast path to market. The pilot in Germany and Spain launched in just two weeks, fast enough to prove impact before committing further. Seamless integration with the group’s telephony, CRM, and internal systems, including appointment management, further influenced the decision.

Additionally, AUTO1 was attracted to the agent management platform (AMP)’s ability to provide visibility into agent performance, so they could directly measure success. Built-in data analysis and testing tools allows the team to keep optimizing after launch.

“It was important to us that we didn’t have to spend months on implementation. With Parloa, we’re partnering with an innovative, highly capable provider, and an AI solution that delivers immediate results.”

Antonella Zagaria, Director of Product Management, AUTO1 Group

Rapid rollout

After the pilot succeeded in Germany and Spain, AUTO1 Group rolled the solution out to nine markets over the course of just nine weeks: Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Portugal.

Three factors made the pace possible:

  • AUTO1 Group leadership backed the AI solution from day one.

  • The AI agents integrated into the existing tech stack without disruption.

  • Customer service, operations, product, tech, and engineering teams at AUTO1 Group worked closely with Parloa throughout the implementation.

Results

  • Nine weeks for a full rollout across nine countries and in seven languages.

  • Millions of customer interactions running through AI agents.

  • Significantly fewer inbound calls, freeing employees to focus on more complex customer issues.

  • 4.8 Google rating

What's next
